Marvelys Capote, an associate travel consultant for Manhattan based Linden Travel, has organized a virtual food drive to benefit Food Bank New York City, a non profit organization that provides food to homeless and hungry people living in the five boroughs. Linden Travel will match all donations made by associates to maximize support for the charity.
“I’ve always wanted to do more to help the homeless in New York City.” Ms. Capote said. “I heard about Food Bank New York on the radio and decided this was the time to do it. With the holidays just around the corner, I think we can all do a little more to make a difference. ”
The virtual food drive will be held for one week and is open to all associates of Linden Travel. Associates were asked to donate money to the virtual food drive instead of purchasing cans and bringing them to the office. Donations can be made securely online on Linden Travel’s Virtual Food Drive webpage using any major credit card. At the conclusion of the drive, Linden Travel will match donations made to Food Bank New York City to increase the contribution.
“It’s the new kind of food drive!” says Capote. “No one has to lug cans of food on subway or bus and we don’t need to find a place to store them in the office.”
